Haas F1 Team concludes the first half of the season with a mixture of highs and lows. The American squad has struggled to produce a consistently competitive car, with performances often falling short and leaving drivers Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon outside the points-paying positions. The 2026 season will be a pivotal year for every team on the grid, as regulations change and everyone essentially starts from scratch. For Haas, the immediate focus is on maximizing results in the second half of the current championship while working diligently at their factory to prepare for the challenges of the next season.
Ayao Komatsu, Haas team principal, previously acknowledged that Gene Haas, the founder of the team, had received several offers in recent months from parties interested in purchasing the squad. Ralf Schumacher, speaking about these proposals, revealed that the American entrepreneur has no intention of selling under any circumstances:
“Honestly, Gene Haas has witnessed many changes within the team over the years. Now he is deeply involved and understands even the finer details. I don’t know everything, but over the past 18 months, he has received numerous offers to buy the team. He is simply not interested. He truly enjoys being the owner of a Formula 1 team. It is a very privileged position,” Ralf Schumacher told BILD.
A junior team project in the pipeline?
Currently, Haas functions as Ferrari’s satellite team, with Oliver Bearman becoming an official Haas driver this season. According to Ralf Schumacher, Gene Haas might be considering the creation of a junior team, giving young drivers the opportunity to develop independently while maintaining a closer link to the main squad. Starting next year, the Formula 1 grid will expand to 11 teams with the introduction of Cadillac, which will initially use Ferrari power units.
For Haas, a junior team could be an ideal solution: “I would look for a partner, like a junior team, similar to what Red Bull has with the Racing Bulls,” Schumacher explained. “Perhaps Cadillac could be an option once they enter Formula 1 next year. Nowadays, many teams struggle to take the risk of hiring young drivers. The concept of a junior team could be the perfect solution,” he concluded.
