Haas-Kevin Magnussen, the bond remains
Kevin Magnussen has become a “flagbearer” for Haas and will remain with the team in 2025 even though he no longer has a seat in Formula 1. The Danish driver, who has been with the American outfit for eight years (except for the 2021 Formula 1 season), will stay on to work with the Toyota simulator—part of the Japanese company’s support for the Banbury-based team—and conduct TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) sessions.
Team principal Ayao Komatsu confirmed Haas’ intention to continue leveraging Magnussen’s experience.
Ayao Komatsu’s comments
“He’ll do some TPC and spend time on the simulator,” Ayao Komatsu told *RacingNews365*. While Haas has yet to officially announce its reserve drivers, Kevin Magnussen is expected to take on this role, possibly alongside at least one Japanese driver. The team’s direction became clear at the end of 2024, with Ryo Hirakawa driving during post-season tests in Abu Dhabi, and early in 2025, with Ritomo Miyata testing at Jerez de la Frontera.
Kevin Magnussen will combine his new responsibilities at Haas with commitments in the World Endurance Championship (competing for BMW M Motorsport in the Hypercar program) and IMSA.
