Max Verstappen makes it four
While the trophy awarded to F1 world champions remains the same, the story behind it changes every year. Max Verstappen’s championships, for example, have followed different paths, with the Dutchman consistently finding the key to victory. Super Max triumphed through wheel-to-wheel battles (2021), dominance (2023), responding to early rival superiority (2022), and building an impenetrable lead for more than half the season (2024).
For his former teammate Alexander Albon, who witnessed Max Verstappen’s transformation from a raw talent to a championship-ready driver, the 2024 title, won by fending off Lando Norris’ McLaren, stands out as the best of the four.
Alex Albon’s remarks
“His 2021 was special, but it was a constant brawl (with Lewis Hamilton),” Alex Albon told *RacingNews365*. “So I think the 2024 title was his best: here we saw Max’s ability not just in single-lap performance but also in racecraft and weekend management. When the car wasn’t perfect, he still delivered strong results, not allowing Lando to close the gap. That, to me, was impressive.” – he pointed out.
“This title shows experience and maturity; it was a more tactical challenge, whereas in 2021 Max was a bit rougher and had a narrower perspective,” he continued. “Having competition was good for him; it allowed people to see what he’s truly capable of.” – the Williams driver concluded.
