German media: Sergio Perez receives €15 million severance package from Red Bull. Sergio Perez had no performance-related termination clauses in his contract with Red Bull.

Renewal proved to be an own goal for the Austrian side
After a strong start to the season, Red Bull’s Christian Horner decided to offer Sergio Perez a contract renewal with the Anglo-Austrian team. The surprise came both in the duration of the deal, covering the 2025 and 2026 seasons, and in the removal of performance clauses that would have allowed the team to terminate the contract—a classic own goal.

Departure hurdle
While it became clear that Red Bull did not wish to continue with Sergio Perez for 2025, following a championship finale objectively below expectations, it was equally evident that the Mexican driver had no intention of stepping aside—at least not for free.

The negotiations were laborious, and Red Bull’s official statement notably referred to an “agreement between the parties for the separation.”

According to Germany’s F1-Insider, in an article by journalist Ralf Bach, the severance package for Sergio Perez “is estimated to be around €15 million.”

In short, a very well-paid sabbatical year.
