2025 will certainly not be an ordinary year for Kimi Antonelli, who, between his F1 debut and his final high school exams, has even asked George Russell for help. The young Italian Mercedes driver, barely over eighteen, is dealing with a whirlwind of emotions that, however, don’t seem to affect him too much.
In the first four races of the championship, car number 12 has been one of the brightest notes on the entire grid. After a tough qualifying session in Australia, Antonelli showed progress in every session. That explains his sixth place in the standings, just two points behind Charles Leclerc—an unexpected result at the start of the season.
Many people, including Toto Wolff, thought the young talent from Bologna would need some time to get used to everything that comes with driving a Formula 1 car. Antonelli, in fact, has fast-tracked his development, moving from Formula 4 to Formula 2 before landing a seat with a top team like Mercedes.
Kimi asks Russell for help
In addition to his first Formula 1 season, in 2025 Kimi Antonelli will also have to take his final high school exam. And for this, he asked his teammate George Russell for help. In Bahrain, during one of the fan zone events, the Italian driver was involved in a curious exchange.
“I have a question for you George, how are you at math?” Kimi asked Russell.
“Pretty good,” the Brit immediately replied.
“Then you’ll help me with my final exam,” the Italian replied. A response that left Russell speechless. “What exam? Are you seriously still in school?” was number 63’s reaction.
The subject of final exams has come up several times for the new Mercedes driver at the start of this season. On several occasions, Antonelli has said he wants to finish his education also for personal reasons. “My mom really cares about it. I want to take the exam to make her proud,” he said.
