Mercedes: Swedish Holidays for George Russell
Most F1 drivers are currently enjoying their final vacation days before diving into preparations at the factory and embarking on a grueling 24-race season. While some prefer to relax in warm climates, others head to snowy landscapes. This is the case for Mercedes driver George Russell, who is spending time in Sweden behind the wheel of some Mercedes road cars. The 26-year-old also took to social media to joke about a near-crash during an ice-driving session.
The Mishap with a Pile of Fresh Snow
George Russell drove several AMG models from the Stuttgart manufacturer, drifting on a frozen lake until he veered off the ideal trajectory, humorously simulating his “first crash” of 2025. In a photo shared on his social media accounts, George Russell is seen standing with his hands on his hips, smiling sheepishly at the sight of his Mercedes stationary after hitting (without any damage) a pile of fresh snow.
Interestingly, this scenario also happened recently to his new teammate, Andrea Kimi Antonelli. A few days ago, the 18-year-old from Bologna went off “track” while driving a Toyota GR Yaris on the snow. He similarly shared Instagram photos of the moment a tractor pulled his car out of a pile of fresh snow.
George Russell Comments on the Incident
“I couldn’t wait for next month,” George Russell remarked while sharing images of his ice-driving session, referring to the return of the F1 season with testing scheduled in Bahrain from February 26 to 28. “This place never ceases to amaze me! Driving on Sweden’s frozen lakes is always incredible. Limits are made to be pushed…” – Lewis Hamilton‘s former teammate concluded.
