Valtteri Bottas hints at Cadillac F1: a social media video from the Finnish driver suggests a possible future on the grid with General Motors’ American team.
Valtteri Bottas may be set to return to full-time Formula 1 racing in the near future, and he could do so with an entirely new project: Cadillac F1. The former Mercedes and Alfa Romeo driver posted a short video on his social media that quickly made the rounds in the paddock and reignited speculation about his future.
In the video, a parked Cadillac SUV is shown, and a voice comments to Valtteri Bottas: “It has nice seats.” When asked if he wanted to sit in one of the “two free seats,” the Finn—smiling at the camera—replied, “Not yet.” A cryptic message, but one that strongly resembles a teaser for an upcoming official announcement.
With 10 career wins and a wealth of experience, Bottas has long been linked to the Cadillac project, which will debut in Formula 1 in 2026. Now, the video seems to be the first concrete clue of a deal in the making.
Valtteri Bottas-Cadillac, a match made in advance?
Cadillac, the American brand under the General Motors group, has been granted approval to enter Formula 1 in 2026, likely in technical partnership with Andretti Global. Since then, there’s been much discussion about the ideal driver lineup for the debut.
While Sergio Perez remains a strong contender for one of the two available seats, the other could go to Valtteri Bottas, who would bring experience, consistency, and an internationally appealing profile suited to the American brand.
According to some reports, it’s not out of the question that Cadillac could field both: Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez could form an experienced and competitive pair to take on the challenges of their debut season in the top category.
In the meantime, Valtteri Bottas is serving as a test and reserve driver for Mercedes, but it’s clear that his goal is to return as a full-time driver. The brief yet telling “Not yet” in the video might be the first piece of a puzzle soon to be completed.
With the 2026 Australian Grand Prix set to kick off Cadillac’s new era, the official announcement could arrive before the end of the summer. And if these signs are anything to go by, Valtteri Bottas’ return to the grid is looking increasingly likely.
