Having left Monaco behind, the F1 circus heads to Barcelona, a round eagerly awaited by many due to the new technical directive on wing flexibility and Ferrari’s updates. The Spanish GP weekend won’t only feature changes in the Maranello garage, as there’s also someone bringing a special “upgrade” — a unique livery: it’s the Stake Sauber team of Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
The Hinwil-based team’s car gets a makeover ahead of the Catalan round of the Formula One World Championship. The car from the team led by former Red Bull member Jonathan Wheatley will hit the track from FP1 of the Barcelona Grand Prix with a special “upgrade.” Announced on Tuesday, May 27, the special Sauber livery for the F1 Spanish GP was unveiled by the team on the Wednesday before the race weekend.
Through a post on its social media channels, the Swiss team revealed its new special look. “Pixel perfect. Barcelona will get a digital upgrade!” — this is the caption accompanying the photos of Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto’s car’s new outfit.

The colors remain the same, but the layout on the car changes. The signature “Kick” green continues to accompany the black on the team’s C45 for the Spanish weekend. Compared to the usual 2025 livery, Sauber’s look for the Spanish GP gives more prominence to black. The green, still heavily present on the front end, becomes more subtle around the engine cover, blending into a pixelated texture.
