F1 | Verstappen responds with humor to Sky journalist’s question, leaving fans amused
Max Verstappen, Formula 1 world champion and master of irony, showcased his trademark humor when he responded with a smile to a question that clearly irritated him. The double McLaren disqualification in Las Vegas has reignited the championship battle, giving Verstappen a renewed chance to chase his fifth world title.
The Red Bull driver dominated the Las Vegas Grand Prix, crossing the finish line more than 20 seconds ahead of Lando Norris. Norris, who had started from pole position, made a costly early mistake, allowing Max Verstappen to seize control and dictate the pace at the front.
This, of course, happened before news broke of the double McLaren disqualification. With the penalties applied, the gap between Norris and Verstappen has now shrunk to just 24 points. While this margin could allow Norris to clinch the championship in Qatar if he wins the race, Max Verstappen or Oscar Piastri could still overturn the standings, as the two drivers are now level on points.
Max Verstappen’s witty response in the media pen
When asked whether it was him or the car behind his Las Vegas victory, the Red Bull driver appeared slightly annoyed and answered with his usual ironic flair.
Sky Sports F1 journalist Rachel Brookes asked, “Today you won by 20 seconds. We’re seeing the Red Bull of the past, the one that dominated. Don’t you think this car is performing well on these last two circuits? You’ve been strong on many different tracks…”
With a smile under his mustache, Max Verstappen replied sarcastically, “Yes, it’s all about the car!”
The journalist quickly tried to clarify, emphasizing her point: “I said you were good. I didn’t say the car was good. I said you were good.” To which Max Verstappen simply responded with a cheeky “yes.”
The exchange has already gone viral – another classic moment of Max being Max, proving he’s impossible to faze whether he’s leading a grand prix or facing the media.
