The four-time Dutch world champion did not hide his disappointment over the upcoming departure of the Dutch Grand Prix, scheduled at the end of the 2026 season. Zandvoort, which returned to the calendar in 2021 after extensive renovations, quickly became one of the most beloved races among fans.

“As long as they don’t add another street circuit, I’m happy,” Verstappen said, emphasizing the importance of keeping permanent tracks on the calendar, especially in an era when Formula 1 increasingly favors temporary layouts. In recent years, circuits like Miami (2022) and Las Vegas (2023) were added, with Madrid set to join from 2026.

The special bond with his home Grand Prix

The Dutch champion highlighted his personal connection with Zandvoort: “It’s a shame that F1 will leave Zandvoort, but I’m very proud to have had a home Grand Prix for several years. We will do everything to enjoy these last editions.”

Verstappen also praised the unique appeal of the track, which offers exciting driving experiences beyond Formula 1: “Even when F1 is no longer here, it will always be an incredible track to drive on with any car. I will definitely be back.”
