Max Verstappen was unrecognizable during qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Dutch driver, visibly disappointed, could not explain the issues affecting his Red Bull.
Heading into the weekend, Interlagos was seen as a turning point that could significantly influence the championship battle — and Saturday’s events confirmed that. After Oscar Piastri’s error in the Sprint Race, Max Verstappen faced a Red Bull plagued with problems during qualifying, ultimately being eliminated in Q1.
This result means the Dutch driver will have to fight his way back in the race on a track known for delivering unpredictable Grand Prix moments. Doing so will not be easy, as the RB21 struggled significantly on the Brazilian circuit during a Saturday that allowed Lando Norris to extend his lead over rivals.
Max Verstappen speaks after Q1 exit
After his elimination, Max Verstappen did not hide his disappointment over a result that complicates his comeback against Lando Norris. “Our weekend hadn’t been great up to this point either, but this qualifying result is definitely unexpected. We tried to make some changes to the car, but I had no grip and couldn’t really drive it. It was impossible to push, and the car kept sliding constantly. Now we just need to analyze what happened and try to understand the reasons,” said the Red Bull driver at the end of the qualifying session for the 2025 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix at the Interlagos
