Lando Norris continues his unstoppable run at Interlagos, despite a strong challenge from Andrea Kimi Antonelli. After winning the Sprint Race, the British driver also claimed pole position for the Brazilian Grand Prix, confirming McLaren’s remarkable form as the 2025 season approaches its finale. Qualifying at Interlagos took place under tricky conditions, with a still-wet track and rapidly changing weather, but Lando Norris managed the pressure, showing both maturity and speed.
Immediately after the session, Lando Norris commented on the difficulty of finding the limit. “It was tough, the track was very slippery and the conditions kept changing, but at the same time, it was fun to drive here,” he explained.
The Briton also admitted to feeling the tension during his first Q3 run. “I was a bit under pressure after messing up the first lap. I felt more stress than I would have liked, but in the end, it went well.”
Lando Norris ahead of Kimi Antonelli, a special request for the Italian
McLaren once again put on a flawless performance. “The team gave me an amazing car, and I thank them. I didn’t make life easy for them or myself, but together we did a great job,” said the championship leader.
With this pole, Lando Norris confirms the perfect synergy he has built with McLaren throughout the year — a relationship that has transformed the Woking team into the dominant force of the season. “When I stay calm and put everything together, I can be at my best. It’s an incredible feeling to get pole here in Brazil,” he added with a smile to the cheering Interlagos crowd.
Now fully in the title fight, Norris seems to have complete confidence in both himself and the car.
Antonelli second, Mercedes refuses to give up
Behind Lando Norris was Kimi Antonelli with Mercedes. The young Italian continues to impress with both speed and consistency, confirming himself as the only driver capable of keeping pace with the championship leader. Aware of the threat, Lando Norris joked at the end of the session, saying, “I hope Antonelli doesn’t try to ruin everything for me. In the Sprint, he showed he pushes non-stop.”
McLaren thus consolidates its technical supremacy, with a balanced and fast car on every type of track. Yet the Brazilian Grand Prix remains unpredictable. Weather conditions, track variability, and Mercedes’ consistency could change everything. Interlagos promises a new generational battle: Norris’ explosive talent versus Kimi Antonelli’s freshness and determination.
