Four consecutive victories and a commanding advantage are still not enough for Kimi Antonelli and Mercedes to consider themselves fully satisfied. Speaking to the media, the Italian driver explained that he is still working to better understand how to extract the maximum performance from the Mercedes power unit.
“The way the energy management system operates can still catch you by surprise from time to time. However, the changes that have been introduced, along with the flexibility granted by the FIA, have definitely made things much easier. The cars have improved significantly compared to last year; now it’s possible to stay much closer to the car ahead, and that makes racing far more exciting.
“As for the power unit, I can only congratulate the team for the excellent work they have done, just as I do for the chassis. I still believe there is room for further improvement when it comes to the power unit. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next two years if the regulations shift toward giving more importance to the internal combustion engine and slightly less to the electrical side — in my opinion, that would be a step in the right direction.
“Overall, the system is much simpler than it was at the beginning of the season, and using it is becoming increasingly natural compared to what it was, for example, in Melbourne.”
Ultimately, Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s technical outlook ahead of the upcoming race weekends emphasizes how much a driver’s long-term success depends on matching a stable baseline with a team’s unique developmental trajectory. By aligning his personal peak performance requirements with Mercedes‘ long-term engineering vision, the championship leader has a prime opportunity to maximize trackside performance and chase the ultimate prize. If the engineering offices want to preserve their competitive depth across upcoming regulatory cycles, streamlining these administrative car adaptations provides the precise operational clarity needed to eliminate tracking errors and secure their championship future.
