Honda has decided to officially reveal images of its power unit that will be fitted to Aston Martin in the 2026 Formula 1 season.
The first car of the new generation has already taken to the track, with Audi completing its filming day earlier today. Honda has also chosen to offer a preview of its 2026 project, although this time it is “only” the power unit that has been shown. The Japanese manufacturer will partner Aston Martin, which is placing strong faith in the new regulations.
The British team has completely overhauled its facilities in recent years. Changes in personnel have also been a key element of this period, with the arrival of Adrian Newey in particular placing the Silverstone-based outfit firmly among the potential favourites as the new technical cycle begins from this season.
Honda presents its engine
Honda has decided to preview the first images of its 2026 power unit. The Japanese manufacturer had already been the first to reveal the sound of its engine back in December. With its support role alongside Red Bull now over, this season marks the beginning of a new collaboration with Aston Martin, whose ambition is to become a fully-fledged top team by taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the new regulations.
Through its official social media channels, Honda shared a photo showing a small portion of its power unit. During a presentation event held in Tokyo, however, a short video was also shown, allowing fans to hear the engine sound accompanied by a more complete image of the unit.

The engine will be a component of vital importance under the new regulations. The work carried out by manufacturers will be crucial in allowing teams to compete at the highest level. Beyond outright power, reliability, especially in the opening races, and fuel efficiency will also be key factors. Only the track will tell whether the Japanese giant has managed to provide Aston Martin with that extra step needed to finally fight for victories in 2026.
As the partnership between Honda and Aston Martin moves from the factory to the track, the expectations surrounding the AMR26 continue to grow. The technical synergy between Honda’s proven hybrid expertise and the design philosophy of the new-look Silverstone team could be the catalyst for a major shift in the F1 pecking order. With the official launch in Tokyo set for January 20th, fans won’t have to wait long to see the full details of the engine that aims to carry Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll to the front of the grid.
