At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli claimed second place in the Sprint Qualifying, demonstrating once again how his ability to adapt quickly can translate into a concrete advantage on track.
During the Sprint Qualifying at Interlagos, the Bolognese driver delivered a brilliant performance, securing second place and guaranteeing a front-row start for the short race. This achievement came on a circuit entirely new to him, a recurring trend that has become surprisingly consistent throughout his season.
In a format that leaves very little room for recovery and with variable track conditions, Kimi Antonelli managed every phase with composure, confirming a clear growth in his ability to interpret fast, high-pressure sessions.
Managing the challenges
The situation is reminiscent of what happened in Miami, where he even secured pole in the Sprint on another new track. When asked about the secret behind this natural ease, Kimi Antonelli explained: “Sometimes I even ask myself. I think that when a track is new, you have no expectations. You just try to drive as well as possible, get into the rhythm as quickly as you can, so this definitely helps. On every new track this year, I’ve felt comfortable.”
However, behind this result lie significant technical challenges. Kimi Antonelli described the difficulties he encountered during his decisive lap: “The soft tire didn’t perform as we expected, and with the track cooling down, the warm-up was more difficult. When I started my flying lap, I felt a loss of grip compared to the beginning of the out-lap.”
Focus on the Sprint
Looking ahead to the Sprint race, his priorities remain clear: “We will try to get a good start, but it will be important to score the right points. If I find myself wheel-to-wheel, I’ll aim to exit the chicane in front.”
The picture at Interlagos is not that of an isolated breakthrough, but of a growing trend: Kimi Antonelli is learning quickly, and at every new circuit, that margin of improvement seems to expand.
