Carlos Sainz to start last in the Brazil Sprint Race: key moment behind his elimination. Carlos Sainz faces a difficult Sprint Qualifying at the Brazilian GP.

Carlos Sainz, Williams 2025 F1 car

Carlos Sainz experienced a Sprint Qualifying to forget. After an excellent free practice session, everything went wrong during Friday’s mini-qualifying. The Spanish driver attempted only one single lap. A risky choice that led to a mistake, running wide at Turn 1 and failing to set a valid time to pass the cut and reach SQ2. As he entered the pit lane, Carlos Sainz appeared frustrated with the team’s decision, describing it as “the worst execution I have ever seen in my life.” This serious episode forces Carlos Sainz to start from the very last position on the grid for today’s Sprint Race.

Speaking to the media, Carlos Sainz commented on the situation: “It wasn’t a good session. The first lap was confusing due to traffic, and the tire temperatures weren’t optimal either. I ran a session without really understanding my car. It’s a big shame. We will learn from this lesson.” – the former Ferrari driver pointed out.

Now, all that remains is to see whether the Sprint Race will allow the Williams driver to stage a remarkable comeback.
