Speculation continues over Christian Horner’s future in Formula 1. After his shocking departure from Red Bull, officially announced at the end of the Silverstone Grand Prix, rumors have linked him to multiple teams including Alpine, Williams, Aston Martin, Haas, and even a hypothetical twelfth team.
From this list, at least Aston Martin and Williams can now be crossed off. Team principals Andy Cowell and James Vowles have both firmly closed the door on Christian Horner joining their teams. Meanwhile, Steve Nielsen appeared more open to the possibility, commenting, “There is nothing true about Christian joining Alpine, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen,” while Ayao Komatsu confirmed ongoing contacts with Haas team principal Gene Haas.
Andy Cowell’s statement
Both Cowell and Vowles are former Mercedes colleagues who have battled Horner both on and off the track. The idea of working together again in leadership roles is one they reject. “This morning I spoke with Lawrence Stroll to see what he knows. It seems Christian is contacting practically every team owner at the moment. I can say with certainty that there are no plans for Christian to take on an operational or investment role with us in the future,” Andy Cowell said in Singapore.
James Vowles’ statement
James Vowles added, “He hasn’t reached out to us. I think dialogue should always be welcomed. But we are very satisfied with the structure we have in place, and it is working well. So I see no reason to make any changes.”
