Alpine remains in a deep crisis, with both drivers finishing outside the points once again at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix. Securing a top 10 has been a tough challenge for the French team, particularly for Pierre Gasly, the only Alpine driver to regularly score points this season.
Gasly battles from the pit lane
Pierre Gasly started from the pit lane after changes were made to his car under parc fermé conditions, making a recovery on a track already difficult for overtaking even more challenging. The former Red Bull driver finished 19th, reflecting the tough day he faced. He commented: “It was going to be a difficult day, especially starting from the pit lane. I didn’t feel very comfortable in the car, so we adjusted the setup and floor to better understand some aspects that could help us in the future. We knew the race would be tough, and it was nice to have some on-track battles, even if not for points. I know the team is working hard right now, and we are all aware we are far from where we should be. I’m confident we can perform better in Austin compared to the last few races, where the circuit characteristics didn’t suit our package, mainly due to lack of grip and the bumps typical of street circuits. We’ll keep our heads down and continue focusing on improving our current position.”
Colapinto struggles in midfield
Franco Colapinto also faced a challenging weekend, starting and finishing 16th. “It was a long race with many close battles, which was fun, but we didn’t have the pace and lost positions toward the end with older tires,” he said. “I got off the line well and gained positions in the initial sequence of corners. We were doing fairly well in the midfield group on the Soft tires at that point. Knowing how hard overtaking is here, we pitted early to attempt an undercut and use track position to regain places. We did our best to manage the tires, but with heavy degradation and having to move off-line for blue flags, it was difficult to keep up with cars on fresher tires in the final laps. It wasn’t the result we wanted, but we just have to keep pushing and better results will come. I’m looking forward to the next race in the Americas, one of my favorites, with incredibly passionate fans.”
