Formula 1 driver Alex Albon is currently experiencing his best season with Williams, and his latest comments reveal just how deep his connection with the Grove-based team has become. As Williams edges closer to securing fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship — a result the team hasn’t achieved since 2017 — Albon has taken the opportunity to clarify his position at a crucial stage of the team’s rebuilding project.
After several years of reconstruction and patient work behind the scenes, Williams finally appears to be regaining its competitive edge, achieving progress few expected at the start of the year. For Albon, who has been central to much of the team’s 2025 success, this resurgence has roots that go back much further than the recent results seen on track.
“A journey built in silence”
Speaking to international media, Alex Albon explained how proud he is of the work carried out by the team and how much progress they have made together over the past few seasons.
“When I signed with Williams, you could already see some positive qualities, but it wasn’t clear how far we could go. Today, the path is clear. The real transformation has come in the past few years, when we rebuilt the team from the ground up.”
The Thai-British driver also praised team principal James Vowles, who joined Williams from Mercedes in 2023, describing the impact of his leadership as decisive in shaping the team’s long-term direction.
“I like that James is honest about both our weaknesses and our strengths. He has a realistic plan and doesn’t promise miracles. But everything we see today is the result of those choices. I’m happy where I am,” Alex Albon added.
With 70 of the team’s 102 points this season and a teammate like Carlos Sainz, who managed to bring Williams back to the podium in Baku, Alex Albon has become the central figure in a project that finally feels credible and full of potential. His performances have been consistent and mature, helping to cement Williams’ return to the midfield and occasionally challenging for top positions against stronger teams.
More than a simple declaration of loyalty, his words sound like a clear message to fans and rivals alike: the Williams Formula 1 renaissance has only just begun, and Alex Albon intends to be at the heart of it as the team continues its climb back toward the front of the grid.
