Many viewers complained that the international broadcast dedicated too much time to off-track content, such as drivers’ partners and VIP guests in the paddock, rather than focusing on the on-track action. Several overtakes, including Carlos Sainz’s remarkable climb from eighteenth to tenth place, were reportedly missed live, and Alonso’s final pursuit of Hamilton received little to no coverage.
Speaking on the radio show El Partidazo de COPE, Sainz expressed concern that the broadcast’s emphasis on spectacle could distract from the true essence of the sport. He highlighted the importance of prioritizing race strategy, battles, and competitive moments that matter most to fans.
FOM defends its production choices
In response, FOM emphasized that its primary focus remains on on-track action. The organization acknowledged the complexity of managing live coverage during a Formula 1 weekend and stressed that the production team continuously works to improve its approach. According to the FOM spokesperson, the team’s broadcast operations are among the most advanced in the world, balancing technical sophistication with global coverage demands.
The statement also underlined that, despite social media criticism, FOM remains confident in the quality of its work, ensuring that every race weekend is captured comprehensively while addressing fan expectations.
