Ocon consistently in the top ten
Haas did not achieve its goal of 7th place in the Constructors’ Championship, but the team remained competitive until the very last race of the season in Abu Dhabi. The American squad had to settle for 8th place, nine points behind Aston Martin. Despite this, Esteban Ocon was a standout performer over the weekend, first qualifying 8th and then finishing 7th in the race, defending his position from Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari.
The French driver delivered a flawless race, opting for a single pit stop just before lap 20, switching to Hard tires after starting on Mediums. “I’m very happy to end the year like this. I think it was a really positive race for us, and it was the maximum we could achieve. We battled with Alonso throughout the race, and it was definitely a great fight because he was alongside me in the middle sector. It was very tight, and there were many overtakes until the very end. It wasn’t enough to finish ahead of Aston Martin in the Constructors’ Championship. It’s bittersweet, but it’s certainly a great final race that gives us a solid foundation to build on for next year,” Esteban Ocon said.
Ollie Bearman’s disappointment
Esteban Ocon ended the Drivers’ Championship in 15th place, three points behind teammate Oliver Bearman, who finished 13th overall but failed to score points in Abu Dhabi. The English driver followed a strategy very similar to Ocon’s to climb into the top 10, but then received a 5-second penalty for a change of direction on the straight—one of many penalties he faced this season. This maneuver had obvious effects on the final classification, as seen in his 12th place finish in the season finale. “Overall, it was a good race. We made an early pit stop, but we managed to hold off the others. Being penalized for more than one change of direction with Stroll… I broke the slipstream once, which is allowed by the rules, and then defended the inside line for the rest of the straight. I’m looking forward to the winter break. We’ve built a really solid foundation for this year, which is positive, and once again, thanks to the entire team for everything this year,” Ollie Bearman commented at the end of the 2025 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.
