Christian Horner reflects on “horrible day in Bahrain”: “We need updates soon”. Christian Horner reflects on Red Bull’s tough Bahrain GP.

Christian Horner, Red Bull team boss 2024

A weekend to forget in Bahrain for Red Bull. The Austrian team fought with all its strength to salvage a complicated race weekend. Max Verstappen, who had dominated the Suzuka round just seven days earlier, found himself starting from sixth place, chasing his rivals.

During the GP, on top of the car’s issues, another problem arose—this time in the pits. At the end of the race, team principal Christian Horner explained the main problems his team had to face in Bahrain. The Briton spoke out in an official statement released in the evening: “We struggled with two issues this weekend—one related to braking and the other to car balance. When you have these problems, tyre degradation becomes even more apparent.”

“Additionally, we had a horrible day, with several issues even in the pits, including one with the pit light. The actual pit stops were fairly good, but the electrical issues definitely affected our race.” – he pointed out.

With racing set to resume in just seven days in Jeddah, Christian Horner said that Red Bull hopes to bring some updates to its RB21 for the occasion: “The team is very focused on car development, and we hope that some updates addressing the highlighted problems will be introduced in the next races. This race exposed some clear weaknesses that we need to resolve quickly; we’ve identified where the issues are, but implementing the solutions will take a little more time.” – the Red Bull team boss concluded at the end of the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix.
