Alpine’s 24% ownership stake continues to attract major interest, with Christian Horner and Toto Wolff both reportedly linked to potential moves involving the Enstone-based Formula 1 team.
As Alpine’s performances improve significantly in the 2026 Formula 1 season, the team has become a far more attractive asset — both from a sporting and financial perspective.
Christian Horner is believed to be connected to an investor group led by Otro Capital, with a possible deal said to value Alpine at around $3 billion. The reported interest would go beyond a purely financial investment, with the intention of securing an active and influential role within the long-term direction of the project.
Toto Wolff, meanwhile, is also understood to have explored the possibility of involvement through Mercedes, although any proposal appears to be more cautious at this stage and remains in the exploratory phase.
One factor that could work in Wolff’s favour is the existing technical relationship between Mercedes and Alpine, with the French team already relying on Mercedes power units. While that partnership currently remains limited to technical collaboration, it could potentially provide a strategic foundation for broader discussions.
Alpine’s rising value is closely linked to its on-track progress.
After enduring a disappointing 2025 campaign, the team has made a remarkable recovery in the opening phase of the 2026 Formula 1 season, climbing from the back of the grid to fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship after the first races.
That turnaround has naturally made Alpine a much more appealing proposition for investors looking to gain influence within Formula 1, especially at a time when team valuations across the sport continue to rise sharply.
With two of Formula 1’s most influential figures reportedly monitoring the situation, Alpine’s ownership story could become one of the most intriguing off-track developments in the months ahead.
