Starting in 2026, the grid will consist of 11 teams. Cadillac is preparing to enter the category and has recruited personnel from Haas to assign a key role within the new team.
This is not the Team Principal—that position has already been confirmed and will be held by Graeme Lowdon, a sporting executive with previous F1 experience. In addition to this role, Cadillac is still discussing the driver lineup for its debut season.
The new team continues its preparations for entering F1 and has now appointed its team manager. This role will be filled by Peter Crolla, a former Haas member ready to embark on a new adventure.
Peter Crolla is a British engineer who worked for McLaren for a year before joining Haas in 2015, even before the team made its debut in 2016. In his early years with the American squad, Peter Crolla served as race team coordinator. In 2017, he became team manager, the same role he will now take on with Cadillac.
This is a positive signing for Cadillac for two main reasons. The first is the experience he brings to a brand-new team that has yet to make its debut—a situation similar to what he managed in 2015.
The second reason is linked to Ferrari, whose power units Haas uses as a customer team. In its initial years in F1, Cadillac will also use Ferrari’s power unit while awaiting General Motors’ entry as the fifth engine manufacturer on the grid.
