Aston Martin confirms the move

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, besides being the final round of the 2025 season, will also provide an opportunity for some rookie drivers to get their first taste of a Formula 1 car during FP1 sessions. Williams had already confirmed Luke Browning in recent days, and now Aston Martin has made its own announcement.

The second experience

The British team has decided to once again put its AMR25 in Jak Crawford’s hands. After his official debut in Mexico, the American will make his second appearance at Yas Marina, taking the place of Lance Stroll. Crawford, this year competing for the Formula 2 title against Leonardo Fornaroli, is also in the United Arab Emirates for the final round of the championship.

Having joined the Aston Martin Academy last season after three years in the Red Bull Junior Team, Jak Crawford commented on the Abu Dhabi opportunity: “I’m excited to get back in the AMR25 for the second time this season. I’ve spent a lot of time in the simulator at the AMR Technology Campus this year, and being able to transfer that work to the track is incredibly rewarding. Mexico was a great learning experience for me, and I can’t wait to continue that development in both the FP1 session and the young driver test.”

In addition to this session, Jak Crawford has recently been confirmed as the team’s third driver for the 2026 season.
