Aston Martin is reorganizing its internal structure to face the challenges of the 2026 season under the guidance of Adrian Newey.
Aston Martin, outgoing personnel
Adrian Newey’s revolution at Aston Martin has already begun. It may not yet be visible on track, but it is taking shape in the factory, more specifically through the people. According to reports from The-Race and the BBC, around seven key technical staff members at the Silverstone team are preparing to leave.
Among the most notable departures is Eric Blandin, who has a distinguished background with Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari. Blandin joined Aston Martin in 2022 as deputy to then-technical director Dan Fallows and was later moved to lead the aerodynamic department. His position came under review with the arrival of the British designer Adrian Newey.
The decision reflects Aston Martin’s desire to give Newey full freedom to shape the team according to his philosophy, as well as the necessity for Lawrence Stroll’s team to stay within the budget cap after a major recruitment campaign in recent months. Among the new arrivals are Newey himself, technical director Enrico Cardile from Ferrari, team principal Andy Cowell from Mercedes, and – also from the Brackley team – head of aerodynamics Gioacchino Vino.
Another figure set to leave is former chief designer Akio Haga. It was clear that Adrian Newey’s arrival would bring inevitable changes: Aston Martin needs to establish a leaner structure, where each department is closely integrated to maximize efficiency for the 2026 challenge. Stroll senior’s goal is to interpret the new regulations effectively and outperform all rivals.
