Enrico Cardile, the technical director of Aston Martin, has expressed genuine enthusiasm for Honda’s recent contribution to the team’s power unit program, emphasizing the highly productive atmosphere of collaboration between the two companies. He explained that during the development process, Honda has shown great flexibility, responding promptly to Aston Martin’s requests without needing to coordinate with other teams — a major advantage compared to a shared engine supply. Enrico Cardile added that this allows Honda to focus more of its resources and push decisively on the evolution of the power unit.
Focus on the chassis and the future
Enrico Cardile made it clear that his main focus remains on chassis development, meaning he follows the progress of the power unit only indirectly. Nevertheless, he said he was pleasantly surprised by Honda’s aggressive and determined approach, as well as by the company’s excellent willingness to collaborate in integrating the chassis and engine. This spirit of close teamwork, he noted, will be crucial in overcoming the major technical challenges that await in 2026.
Regulations and technical creativity
When discussing the regulations, Enrico Cardile shared an interesting reflection. He recalled that at first glance, the new technical limits seemed very strict and simplified, but after studying them more carefully, he realized there is still significant freedom for innovation. The engineer pointed out that, despite the restrictions, there remain opportunities for creativity and for finding innovative solutions that can drive the project’s development forward. It’s a realistic yet optimistic outlook on a complex regulatory framework — one that will demand both ingenuity and flexibility from all teams involved.
