Red Bull and the Arvid Lindblad project
The early granting of the Super License to Arvid Lindblad allows the British driver to participate in an official Formula 1 session immediately, while enabling Red Bull to better plan for the future and protect itself even more in case Max Verstappen is disqualified for the Silverstone GP (the world champion has only one point left on his license until the end of June).
Red Bull also has Ayumu Iwasa as a reserve driver, but all attention is on Lindblad, both because the Japanese driver has already debuted in F1 by participating in three FP1 sessions and because Lindblad is clearly more of a future prospect, being six years younger.
Arvid Lindblad’s words
Arvid Lindblad is naturally excited to debut on track with the stars of Formula 1 (he wasn’t even born when Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton debuted in the Circus), but he does not know Red Bull’s plans for him: “I am very grateful and proud to have the opportunity to participate in Formula 1 sessions. I don’t know yet if this will actually happen, I still have to discuss it with Red Bull, who probably know more than I do. I have never been involved in any of those conversations.”
Proving his talent, Arvid Lindblad is progressing rapidly on the path to F1 and will most likely get track time this year in some FP1 sessions dedicated to rookies: Racing Bulls has two available (the others have already been taken by Isack Hadjar, who at the beginning of 2025 was both a rookie and a main driver), Red Bull has three.
