F1 | Mercedes, Antonelli very confident ahead of the Las Vegas GP
If success inspires hunger, then Andrea Kimi Antonelli is proving he has a great deal of it. The young Italian talent, promoted by Toto Wolff to partner George Russell after Lewis Hamilton’s departure to join Ferrari’s technical project, has delivered a series of impressive performances in recent races, highlighted by his outstanding weekend at Interlagos where he finished in second place.
With his P2 in São Paulo, Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured his second podium of the season, following his top-three finish in Montreal in mid-June. He is now fully focused on the upcoming round in Las Vegas, a race for which he holds high expectations. On the Nevada street circuit last year, the Mercedes team celebrated a spectacular one-two finish courtesy of George Russell and LEwis Hamilton.
“Very confident,” Antonelli said when discussing his expectations for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. “I want to say that, as a team, we decided to try replicating everything we did last year with the car. Even though it’s a different car compared to last year and many things have changed, it doesn’t automatically mean that because we were fast last year, we will be fast this year as well.”
Andrea Kimi Antonelli then added: “I think that as a team we will try to put the car in the best possible position and, as a driver, I will try to deliver the best performance I can.”
