Alpine Always in the Spotlight
In recent months, Alpine has consistently made headlines, and not just for its on-track performance. Following the controversial return of Flavio Briatore, the surprising decision to become a Mercedes customer team by relinquishing Renault’s factory team status, and the early dismissal of Esteban Ocon, the Enstone-based team now seems to be venturing into two-wheeled racing.
According to the British website Autosport.com, Alpine will join Prima as the main sponsor of the Pramac Racing team in MotoGP. Paolo Campinoti’s team claimed the Teams’ Championship in 2023—becoming the first independent team to achieve this—and has raised the bar even further this year by securing the Riders’ Championship with Jorge Martin. This marks another historic first for a non-factory team in the MotoGP era. In 2025, Pramac will leave Ducati and partner with Yamaha.
A Union of Two Worlds
This new connection between Formula 1 and MotoGP builds on past collaborations, such as Pramac Racing featuring the F1 logo on its bikes in previous seasons. That partnership arose from the personal relationship between Paolo Campinoti and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. A similar dynamic appears to be at play now, with Campinoti’s ties to Renault CEO Luca De Meo proving pivotal.
This revelation also sheds new light on the images of Briatore, Campinoti, and Domenicali seen together at Lusail during last weekend’s F1 Qatar GP, suggesting that they were finalizing this new motorsport alliance.
