For any designer, seeing a creation come to life for the very first time is already an extraordinary moment. It represents the culmination of years of hard work and offers the opportunity to learn from both successes and mistakes.
At this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, however, Adrian Newey will go one step further. The legendary engineer will climb into the cockpit of his own creation and personally drive the RB17, one of the most eagerly anticipated attractions of the British summer motorsport calendar.
The Festival of Speed gets underway on July 9 and runs until July 12, promising four days of spectacular action for motorsport fans. Among the highlights will undoubtedly be Adrian Newey’s appearance behind the wheel of the RB17, the hypercar developed with Red Bull over recent years and completed shortly before his move to Aston Martin.
RB17: first preview images

Unable to wait any longer before the event, Red Bull has released a series of preview images showcasing the RB17 just one day before the Festival begins. Powered by a naturally aspirated hybrid Cosworth V10 engine, the hypercar is ready to unleash its performance before being placed in the hands of its creator.

The RB17 is the result of an uncompromising aerodynamic philosophy, featuring some of the most extreme engineering solutions ever applied to a road-going hypercar. Its driving dynamics are inspired by Formula 1 performance, making it one of the most technically sophisticated cars ever created by the engineers and designers behind the ambitious project.

Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies also expressed his excitement about presenting the RB17 at the iconic British event.
“Goodwood is the perfect place to celebrate who we are and what Red Bull Engineering represents. The RB17 brings together our history, our passion for innovation, and the incredible talent of the people who work on our projects. Seeing the RB17 come to life and excite everyone attending will be a truly special moment for us,” the Frenchman said a few days ago when the project was officially announced.
