According to reliable sources, the Red Bull technical director is just months away from officially starting his role as Managing Technical Partner and shareholder of the British team.
A Record-Breaking Salary
Aston Martin’s owner, billionaire Lawrence Stroll, spared no expense to secure the greatest designer in Formula 1 history. Newey will earn a base salary of $25 million per year, equivalent to approximately £20 million, according to Craig Slater of Sky Sports.
“Bonuses could push the figure up to £30 million annually,” revealed Slater, adding that the contract spans five years but could extend indefinitely thanks to Newey’s equity stake.
Why Adrian Newey Is Seen as a “Bargain”
Ted Kravitz called Stroll’s investment a real deal: “If Aston Martin moves from fifth to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, they gain £15 million. If they reach first, say within a couple of years, there’s your £50 million.”
This strategy shows how the British team is thinking long-term to compete with giants like Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari.
Newey’s New Focus: Formula 1 Only
Unlike his part-time role at Red Bull, Adrian Newey will devote himself entirely to the Aston Martin project. The primary goal is to transform the team into a winning force by 2026, when the new regulations come into effect.
Craig Slater emphasized: “Newey will commit full-time. At Red Bull, he was also involved in external projects, but now he will focus exclusively on Formula 1.”
The Revolution for 2026
With Adrian Newey at the helm, Aston Martin could gain a critical edge in developing their car for 2026. His ability to innovate has already made a difference at Red Bull, and expectations are now sky-high for the Silverstone-based team.
