Racing Bulls brought a camouflage-liveried AT04 to the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit for Arvid Lindblad and Ayumu Iwasa to run. The 17-year-old from the Red Bull Junior Team, who has been granted an exemption to obtain an F1 Super Licence, is preparing for his debut in FP1 with the Faenza-based team.
Arvid Lindblad and Ayumu Iwasa are at Imola for a training day with Racing Bulls. At the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit, an AT04 bearing the familiar camouflage livery is being run, with the two drivers alternating behind the wheel: Arvid Lindblad in the morning and Ayumu Iwasa in the afternoon, as part of the TPC (Testing Previous Cars) programme allowed by the FIA for cars at least two years old.
Here is the first image of the young Red Bull Junior Team talent as he gets ready to take to the track in preparation for the two FP1 sessions he is scheduled to complete at the wheel of the VCARB 02.
It is worth recalling that Arvid is currently just 17 years old and, as a minor, would not ordinarily be permitted to make his debut during a Formula 1 weekend. However, the London-born driver, whose father is Swedish and mother has Indian roots, has been granted a special exemption by the FIA to receive the Super Licence. Not since Max Verstappen has such a young driver been seen in a Formula 1 car during a race weekend. Lindblad is set to take part in a Grand Prix weekend between Austria and Hungary.
This will not be his F1 debut, as he had already driven the AT04 at Imola back in February during a Racing Bulls filming day. He showed great aptitude, despite two spins at the Variante Alta. But experience cannot be bought—it has to be earned.
