Zak Brown dismisses Red Bull’s brake investigation into McLaren as a “ghost hunt”

Red Bull investigates
The back-and-forth between McLaren and Red Bull shows no signs of stopping, with their respective managers regularly taking shots at each other. The recent revelations reported by The Race website, which we also mentioned in our daily podcast Warm Up, have sparked much discussion in the paddock. These involve the extensive correspondence between Red Bull and the FIA, with the Milton Keynes team bombarding the federation with questions in an attempt to uncover the alleged secret that would allow McLaren to cool their brakes more effectively and thus achieve better tire management and performance.

Zak Brown jokes
The latest to respond to these speculations was the papaya team’s CEO, Zak Brown, who spoke about the issue in an interview with PlanetF1. Without naming the rival team, Zak Brown teased Red Bull by calling their efforts a “ghost hunt.” “This search doesn’t worry us,” said the Californian manager. “They can keep looking. There’s nothing to find except the men and women at McLaren who developed a great race car. They did a fantastic job.”

The “ghost hunt”
“There’s no silver bullet somewhere,” Zak Brown reiterated, essentially echoing the same ideas expressed by Andrea Stella at Imola, “but if teams think there is and want to spend their time looking for it, go ahead! If they spend more time trying to find something that doesn’t exist than developing their own car, frankly for us that’s a great use of their time. It’s fantastic that people want to spend their time trying to find a ghost,” he concluded with a joke, “for us it’s always been better to focus on our own team.”
