Red Bull still not convinced by Yuki Tsunoda
The second Red Bull seat continues to be unstable. None of the drivers in the Milton Keynes talent pool have managed to convince the leadership or consistently challenge Max Verstappen, effectively leaving the team to compete with just one dominant car — with all the strategic disadvantages that come with it.
Yuki Tsunoda is the latest driver at risk of being discarded by Red Bull. According to BBC sources, the Japanese driver has little chance of staying with the team and seems likely to leave at the end of the season “unless there’s a major leap in performance.” The problem for #22 is that Red Bull often drags out decisions when a driver’s position is uncertain — as seen in the past with Alex Albon and Sergio Perez — making it difficult for the driver to secure a seat elsewhere in time.
Given his current performance, it’s unlikely Yuki Tsunoda would attract interest from other teams. His best hope might be a seat at Racing Bulls — although the team is expected to promote Arvid Lindblad soon — or possibly a reserve role at Aston Martin due to his long-standing ties with Honda.
If the 2000-born driver does exit Red Bull, the frontrunner to replace him is currently Isack Hadjar, who recently earned praise from Helmut Marko.
After Pierre Gasly, Liam Lawson, Alex Albon and Sergio Perez, Yuki Tsunoda could become the fifth driver to leave Red Bull with a damaged reputation. However, Gasly and Albon were able to rebuild their careers elsewhere, Liam Lawson is attempting to do the same with Racing Bulls, and Sergio Perez is reportedly in talks with Cadillac for an F1 return in 2026.
