Despite his summer contract renewal, Sergio Perez’s position at Red Bull is anything but secure. Checo finds himself on the periphery, while Yuki Tsunoda already envisions battling Max Verstappen in the same car.
In Las Vegas, the Dutchman clinched his fourth consecutive world title. The bright lights of the “City of Sin” illuminated Max Verstappen’s cold Nevada night, softened by a fifth-place finish that secured the championship mathematically. Max is crowned world champion amid the glitz of the Strip, while his teammate Perez wraps up yet another disappointing race.
The Red Bull driver’s struggles have now become a grim routine. Starting from 16th on the grid, Checo did manage some impressive moves, such as a double overtake in one corner against the formidable duo of Lawson and Magnussen. However, the 34-year-old’s recovery fell short of the top spots, finishing 10th and collecting a single point, just behind Yuki Tsunoda.
Yuki Tsunoda dreams of replacing Sergio Perez
The Japanese driver is among the candidates to take over Sergio Perez’s seat at Red Bull. Yuki openly expresses his ambition, sending clear signals to Horner and Marko. “I’m ready to fight him, to fight Verstappen—he’s a monster!”
“Of course, it’s not something I can decide,” Yuki Tsunoda added, “but if it happens, I’ll give it my all!”
The 2000-born Racing Bulls driver is eager for his chance. After four seasons at Faenza, the 24-year-old dreams of making the leap to Milton Keynes’ “main team.” The timing seems favorable, with Perez’s reputation waning, and Yuki Tsunoda is savoring the possibility of a prestigious seat. The “monster” Max Verstappen is closer than ever.
