The paradox
On Tuesday, February 18, in an unprecedented event at the O2 Arena in London, all F1 teams will present their 2025 liveries. However, Williams has scheduled its unveiling for Friday, February 14, Valentine’s Day, showcasing the FW47, the car that will be driven by the returning Alexander Albon and their major new signing, Carlos Sainz.
Does this early unveiling risk undermining the London event? The answer comes from today’s edition of *Corriere dello Sport*. According to the Italian newspaper, Liberty Media has mandated that the colors and designs of the liveries can only be revealed at the mega event organized to celebrate F1’s 75th anniversary. In light of this directive, it is likely that Williams will present the FW47 with an older livery during its initial unveiling.
On February 14, the Grove-based team will at least be able to introduce the team, the new driver, and its new sponsors—one of which is tied to Carlos Sainz. The arrival of the Spanish driver has also secured the addition of a major sponsor to Williams: Santander, a prominent Spanish bank that continues its F1 journey, transitioning from Ferrari to Williams (Ferrari, meanwhile, announced a new partnership with Unicredit yesterday, following its formal announcement on September 1).
