Williams already on track in Bahrain – VIDEO
The British team is gearing up for the first 2026 F1 testing session starting tomorrow.
The FW48 undergoes a filming day
Team principal James Vowles had indicated that Williams would be in Bahrain for the first test session, including a filming day as a prelude, and that plan has been confirmed.
Today, the Williams FW48 hit the track in Bahrain for a dress rehearsal ahead of its official debut in testing tomorrow. The Grove-based team missed the Barcelona shakedown due to some schedule disruptions, but will be fully on track from tomorrow.
Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon will begin exploring the FW48 and the Mercedes power unit. According to reports, Williams will primarily focus on weight-related checks, but there is considerable curiosity to see the car in action—the same car that helped the team finish fifth in the 2025 Constructors’ Championship, with two podiums achieved by Sainz in Baku and Qatar.
The successful filming day in Bahrain marks a vital comeback for Williams after their absence from the initial Barcelona shakedown. By getting the FW48 on track ahead of the official start of testing, James Vowles and his team have ensured that Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon can begin their 2026 campaign without further delays. As the team looks to build on its top-five finish from last season, these early laps at Sakhir will be crucial for gathering the baseline data needed to verify if their new challenger can maintain the momentum that saw them return to the podium in 2025.
