With five races remaining, the championship is still surprisingly open. Not only are the two McLaren drivers, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, the favorites on paper, but since the end of the summer break, Max Verstappen has become an increasingly formidable figure, making him a credible contender once again.
The McLaren MCL39 remains the car to beat, and some of the upcoming circuits, like Brazil and Qatar, suit the Woking team well. Sergio Perez, however, believes the title should go to his former Red Bull teammate: “Verstappen is the driver who most deserves to win the championship, and I think he has an excellent chance of doing so,” he said ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix on Thursday.
