During the Sprint Race of the 2025 FIA Formula 3 Championship at the iconic Silverstone Circuit, Spanish driver Mari Boya executed a sensational double overtake that immediately reminded motorsport fans of one of the most iconic moments in recent Formula 1 history: Lewis Hamilton’s legendary move at the 2022 British Grand Prix.
Back in 2022, Lewis Hamilton thrilled his home crowd by pulling off a stunning double overtake at the final sector of the Silverstone track, which was immortalized by Sky Sports commentator David Croft‘s electrifying shout: “Through goes Hamilton!” That moment became an instant viral highlight across the global motorsport community.
Fast forward to 2025, and Mari Boya, racing for Campos Racing in Formula 3, delivered a remarkably similar maneuver that once again echoed that now-famous phrase.
Boya was closely following a fierce battle between Théophile Nael, driving for Van Amersfoort Racing, and Laurens van Hoepen, racing for ART Grand Prix. The Dutch driver Van Hoepen attempted to dive down the inside of Stowe Corner to overtake Nael—reminiscent of the aggressive move made by Sergio Perez on Charles Leclerc in the 2022 Formula 1 race.
As the trio approached the Vale chicane, Théophile Nael managed to hold off Van Hoepen’s attack—unlike Charles Leclerc in 2022, who, suffering from older and less effective tyres, had to concede position to Sergio Perez.
However, the decisive moment came when Mari Boya took advantage of the scrap just ahead of him. With both Nael and Van Hoepen focused on each other, Boya seized the perfect opportunity, sweeping past both cars in a single move—just like Lewis Hamilton did three years earlier. The overtake not only delighted fans but also secured third place for Boya in the Sprint Race.
The Silverstone weekend turned out to be exceptional for the young Spanish driver. Fresh from being officially inducted into the Aston Martin Formula 1 Academy, Mari Boya went on to win the Feature Race on Sunday. His victory came thanks to his sharp racecraft and excellent judgment of the changing track conditions, which proved crucial in the damp weather.
Although the main race awarded only 75% of the usual points due to its shortened length, Boya’s impressive double podium finish—third in the Sprint and first in the Feature—marked a major step forward in his championship campaign. His standout performances at Silverstone have significantly boosted his position in the Drivers’ Standings and confirmed his potential as one of the most promising talents on the junior single-seater ladder.
Same corner. Same energy.
