The British Grand Prix confirmed that Racing Bulls is continuing to make progress, but it also highlighted a technical weakness that is still limiting the team’s full potential. Arvid Lindblad’s assessment after his first home Formula 1 Grand Prix provides valuable insight into just how much the package has improved—and how much stability is still needed.
A package that is improving, but still not flawless
Racing Bulls arrived at Silverstone confident that it had taken a significant step forward following the upgrade package introduced at the Canadian Grand Prix. The car has become quicker, responds better during the key phases of a race, and the team increasingly believes it has a genuinely competitive package.
However, Silverstone’s demanding layout also exposed the areas where improvements are still required: consistency, reliability and the attention to detail that separates a solid performance from a truly outstanding result.
Arvid Lindblad: excitement, technical setback and growing confidence
Arvid Lindblad’s comments reflected both the excitement of racing at home and the frustration of a small technical issue that ultimately affected his race.
“It was a fantastic day, and I’m really happy to have scored points here at my first home Formula 1 Grand Prix.”
Competing in front of the British crowd naturally adds extra pressure, excitement and responsibility. Lindblad made a strong start and enjoyed a clean but aggressive battle with Max Verstappen through Turn 3, before a minor problem changed the course of his race.
“After racing side by side with Max through Turn 3, I had a problem with the rear wing opening, which prevented me from holding onto my position.”
It was a relatively small issue, but one that proved decisive. In many ways, it perfectly reflects Racing Bulls’ current situation: the performance is there, but the package is not yet supported by flawless reliability.
Despite the disappointment, Lindblad chose to focus on the bigger picture.
“It was a great result for the team, and it’s fantastic that we’re keeping this positive momentum going. Ever since we introduced the upgrade package in Canada, we’ve had a much more competitive car, so the team deserves enormous credit for that.”
His comments are more than just a post-race reflection—they confirm that Racing Bulls has taken a genuine step forward. The next challenge, however, may be even greater: maintaining that level of performance consistently while eliminating the technical issues that continue to prevent the team from maximizing its potential.
