The news had been expected for some time, and the announcement came just ten days before the end of the F1 season, with Red Bull effectively letting go of Perez despite a contract valid through 2025.
It remains to be seen who will be paired with Max Verstappen, although it is highly likely that Liam Lawson will be the new teammate of the four-time world champion for the upcoming season.
Yuki Tsunoda will remain at Racing Bulls, and alongside him, Hadjar, fresh off a second-place finish in the Formula 2 championship behind Gabriel Bortoleto, is expected to join.
Checo bids farewell to Red Bull
Through a statement posted on social media, Sergio Perez wanted to say goodbye to Red Bull following the announcement of his departure. “I am extremely grateful for these four years with Red Bull and for the opportunity to be part of such an important team,” Checo wrote.
“We set records and achieved incredible milestones. I was fortunate to meet fantastic people along the way,” Perez added. “I thank everyone, from the team leaders to the mechanics, the engineers, and everyone who is part of the team.”
“It has been an honor for me to race alongside Max and share all the successes we achieved together. Thanks also to the fans around the world, especially the Mexican ones. See you soon, and remember, never give up.”
