The future Audi is just 10 points behind Aston Martin
The Hinwil-based team returned to the points in the United States, thanks to Nico Hulkenberg’s eighth-place finish. With five races and two Sprint events remaining, the fight in the Constructors’ Championship is still open. The future Audi is just 10 points behind Aston Martin and 13 behind Racing Bulls, currently sixth in the team standings. Here are the words of drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, along with team principal Jonathan Wheatley, ahead of this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix.
Nico Hulkenberg
“It was great to score points again in Austin, and I feel optimistic ahead of this week’s race in Mexico. It’s a true old-school circuit, fun to drive and surrounded by passionate fans. After the good result last weekend, our goal is to maintain momentum. The altitude here can be a factor and influence the car’s behavior, but if we stay focused and keep giving our best, we can have another positive weekend,” said Hulkenberg.
Gabriel Bortoleto
“I’m looking forward to racing in Mexico this weekend. I’ve heard a lot about the atmosphere and energy of the fans, and it’s exciting to finally experience it in person. It’s also a circuit with a rich history: even though the final sector has changed significantly, it’s still where some of the greatest names in Formula One have raced over the years. After a tough weekend in Austin, I want to leave it behind and focus on making steady progress. Nico has shown what we can achieve with our car, and I’m eager to reach that level as well. With three practice sessions this weekend, we have the opportunity to learn and improve session by session, and I’m determined to make the most of my time on track, aiming for a strong performance,” added Bortoleto.
Jonathan Wheatley
“Returning to the top ten last weekend was encouraging and boosted team morale after a couple of challenging races. Austin once again demonstrated the importance of consistency and detailed planning from the very first practice session. The race in Mexico presents many technical challenges due to the altitude, but it’s also one of the most exciting events of the year thanks to the incredible passion of the fans. We know the C45 still has the potential to be competitive, but it requires careful execution from both sides of the garage to maximize our results,” said team principal Jonathan Wheatley.
