Strong Start for the Grove-Based Team
Fifth place in the Constructors’ standings with a 17-point lead over Haas in sixth: Williams has opened the 2025 season by immediately putting points on the board, mainly thanks to Alex Albon. The ‘veteran’ of the Grove-based outfit has only missed out on the points in Bahrain and has already scored two top-five finishes in Australia and Miami.
In Florida, Williams in particular proved to be the fourth strongest team on track, ahead of Ferrari in both Qualifying and the Race, during a weekend in which the SF-25 suffered from all the structural limitations that are now leading the Maranello team to consider drastic solutions such as redesigning the rear suspension.
Carlos Sainz Sr is clearly positively surprised by Williams’ start to the season, but he remains realistic, especially because he knows the Grove squad’s full attention is already focused on 2026: “Williams has gone from ninth to fifth in the Constructors’ Championship, they’ve already secured second-row starts in Qualifying and are consistently fighting for points – all of this is a good sign,” said the rally and rally-raid legend to AS. “Carlos is getting more comfortable with the car and all the progress made has come from setup work because there have been and will be no updates this season. We need to keep our feet on the ground because in a moment you can go from the top ten to the top 15.”
Team Principal James Vowles has already expressed high praise for Carlos Sainz Jr., a driver who has performed well at every team he has driven for. Sainz Sr is convinced that, as always, Carlitos’ value will shine through: “As the saying goes, in the end, time puts everyone in their place.”
