Masters of the market
While still awaiting their first on-track victory, Aston Martin continues to establish itself as a major player in the F1 talent market. From high-profile moves—such as the hiring of Adrian Newey—to ambitious attempts—like the reported mega offer to lure Max Verstappen—the Silverstone-based team is striving to secure the best talent available, regardless of the role.
The latest addition is Gary Gannon, a race engineer who worked at Haas from March 2015 until last season. Gannon, who began his F1 career with Marussia, has spent recent years on the pit wall supporting drivers such as Romain Grosjean, Mick Schumacher, and, more recently, Nico Hulkenberg. His wealth of experience is undeniable.
Role yet to be defined
According to PlanetF1.com, Aston Martin has yet to decide whether Gannon will work with two-time world champion Fernando Alonso or his teammate Lance Stroll during the 2025 season. Alonso’s most recent race engineer was Chris Cronin, while Ben Michell and Andrew Vizard have alternated on Stroll’s side of the garage.
One step at a time, the green “dream team” envisioned by Lawrence Stroll is taking shape. Whether it will be enough to reach the top of Formula 1 remains too early to tell.
