The Japanese driver needs a spark
Yuki Tsunoda has yet to make an impact at the wheel of the Red Bull. The Japanese driver destroyed the upgrades at the Imola circuit in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix that Max Verstappen had already used in Miami, and the Barcelona weekend is becoming increasingly important for Yuki Tsunoda in terms of performance, especially as Isack Hadjar continues to impress.
Yuki Tsunoda has not finished higher than ninth in Bahrain as his best race result, and on paper, he will have the chance to do better in Barcelona if the RB21 confirms its Imola-level competitiveness.
“We knew Monaco would be a challenge after qualifying, and in the end it turned out to be a very long weekend for us,” said Yuki Tsunoda. “Now I’m focusing on Barcelona and on getting a good result at this circuit. It’s a track all drivers know well, and with the regulation changes this weekend could prove interesting. Hopefully, we’ll be more competitive on this kind of track.” – the Japanese driver concluded ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend which is set to take place at the 4.657-kilometre Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday, June 1.
