Jos Verstappen makes peace with the Red Bull boss
There’s one more reason why Christian Horner might not be interested in Ferrari’s call, beyond the English manager’s emotional bond with Red Bull, the team he has led since as far back as 2005. While Bild reports a possible informal approach from Maranello in case of a future replacement for Frederic Vasseur, the person burying the hatchet with a long-time rival is Jos Verstappen. In an interview with Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Super Max’s father said he respects Christian Horner’s choices within the team and wants to move past the tensions that had previously soured their personal relationship, for the sake of his son.
Jos’s interview in Monte Carlo
“Maybe it was a good thing not to be in the paddock for a while,” said Jos Verstappen, who was back in the Red Bull garage this weekend in Monte Carlo. “Even for my mental health. After some time, it’s normal to start seeing things differently, even though sport is full of emotions. I simply want the best for Max and I know that, if things don’t work out, Red Bull will also have to look in the mirror to understand why. Christian Horner? We’ll never go on holiday together, but I don’t work for the team and he’s the boss, so there must be mutual respect. And that respect is now there.” – he pointed out.

Red Bull gaining ground, Barcelona GP a key test
“A lot has happened in the past,” he added, “but now it’s no longer important. I go my own way, I always say what I think, and Red Bull has to acknowledge that. I won’t change. Decisions about my son’s career? I’m more than just ‘Max’s father,’ since I talk about everything with Max and with Raymond (Vermeulen, longtime family friend and manager of the Dutch driver).” He also commented on the current form of the RB21: “I think the situation is definitely a bit more positive than in the past. Monaco is obviously a strange race, but we’ll see in Barcelona where Red Bull stands compared to its rivals,” Jos Verstappen concluded.
