Racing Bulls may have secured another valuable double points finish at the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, with Arvid Lindblad crossing the line eighth and Yuki Tsunoda taking 10th at Monza. However, the Faenza team cannot yet consider both results completely secure, with Tsunoda’s final position under scrutiny following Audi’s challenge over the restart procedure.
It would represent another important result for Racing Bulls, who have already managed to bring both cars home in the points several times during the 2026 Formula 1 season. While Arvid Lindblad’s eighth place is not in question, uncertainty remains over the single point currently attached to Yuki Tsunoda’s 10th-place finish.
Yuki Tsunoda’s Monza result under scrutiny
Yuki Tsunoda returned to Racing Bulls after Liam Lawson was temporarily moved back to Red Bull to replace the injured Isack Hadjar. During the reconnaissance lap before the restart that followed Charles Leclerc’s red-flag crash, the Japanese driver initially positioned his car incorrectly in relation to his grid slot.
Despite the incident, Yuki Tsunoda was not penalised, while the field completed another formation lap before the race was restarted. Audi subsequently challenged the decision concerning the restart procedure, leaving Tsunoda’s 10th place and Racing Bulls’ double points result uncertain.
“We had a good race today, I’m really happy with the result and to be back in the points,” Yuki Tsunoda said while awaiting the outcome. “A huge thank you to everyone at Racing Bulls for helping me get back up to speed so quickly.
“I was a little worried that I wouldn’t be able to make the medium tyres last until the end, but they performed better than expected. I’m really enjoying learning all the new aspects of the car and continuing to improve by taking every opportunity that comes my way.
“If more opportunities come up in the future, obviously I’ll be ready. But the most important thing is that Isack Hadjar continues to recover well and I wish him all the best.”
Arvid Lindblad takes eighth as Racing Bulls return to the points
Arvid Lindblad had even more reason to be satisfied with his afternoon. The only rookie on the 2026 Formula 1 grid helped Racing Bulls return to the points after the team failed to score at Zandvoort, securing eighth place at one of the Faenza-based squad’s home races.
“It was a positive race for us, and it’s great to score points at one of our home races, with Yuki Tsunoda and me both finishing in the top 10,” Arvid Lindblad said. “After the restart, it was a bit of a lonely race for me once we fitted the hard tyres, because there weren’t many overtakes to make.
“Still, I think eighth place was the best result we could have achieved today, and considering the pace Alpine showed throughout the weekend, it was a good race in terms of damage limitation.
“Looking ahead to Madrid next week, I’ve driven the new circuit on the simulator and it looks like a real driver’s track. I think it will be fun, but it will also present some challenges because it’s a very technical circuit.
“Credit to the team for the work they’re doing. We have a strong car that has been competitive at every circuit so far, and that gives us a lot of confidence heading into the next rounds.”
The Monza result would provide another useful contribution to Racing Bulls’ championship campaign, with Lindblad continuing to add points during his rookie season. The latest positions across the field can be followed in the 2026 Formula 1 Drivers’ standings, although Yuki Tsunoda’s Italian Grand Prix result remains subject to the outcome of the Audi challenge.
