Pierre Gasly looks beyond Alpine’s struggles
The decline of Alpine in recent years has been evident. Leadership confusion led to a disappointing 2025 campaign and the team currently sits at the bottom of the Constructors’ Championship. As often happens at the end of a development cycle, lower-tier teams begin focusing on the next year’s car well in advance to align quickly with upcoming regulations. In this context, Alpine’s integration into the “Mercedes family,” which will provide the Enstone squad with future power units, is a key strategic move.
In short, while the present may seem bleak, the future could hold surprises — and this is why Pierre Gasly remains optimistic. His move from AlphaTauri to the French team has so far offered limited satisfaction, but the #10 driver believes Alpine still has the potential to be a protagonist in Formula 1.
Pierre Gasly’s words
“Looking at the people we have in this team, I think we have all the ingredients to be successful. I’m very optimistic about next season. Right now, we sit down every weekend and go over the same story, and it’s not pleasant, but nothing will change suddenly. We need to keep pushing and working on ourselves, hoping that in a few months we can approach race weekends with different expectations,” said the French driver.
“I have high expectations, and the team knows it. I trust all the changes we’re implementing, the new power unit, and also the work we’re doing for 2026. Our current position actually gives us an advantage — we have more wind tunnel hours than most of our competitors, for example. On paper, considering where we are today, we’re in a stronger position compared to our rivals.” – the French driver concluded.
