Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto push for consistency as Alpine heads into key Monaco weekend. High expectations for Alpine in Monaco as drivers reflect on crucial qualifying battle.

Pierre Gasly, Alpine, 2026 F1

Alpine returns to the track after a strong double points finish in Canada. Solid performances from Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto have helped the Alpine F1 Team climb to fifth place in the Constructors’ Championship — an important result the team is now aiming to consolidate over the coming rounds.

The challenges of Monaco could place the A526 under significant pressure, with Gasly and Colapinto needing to gather as much data as possible ahead of qualifying, which this weekend will be crucial alongside race strategy. Below are their thoughts heading into the event.

Gasly’s comments

“I can’t wait to get to Monaco for one of my favourite Grands Prix of the season. It’s one of those circuits that carries huge prestige and a long history, and it’s a real pleasure to drive a Formula 1 car there every year. Qualifying is obviously a crucial moment for us drivers, because that’s when we really push to the limit. You get an incredible adrenaline rush, a unique feeling that only a few of us are lucky enough to experience,” the French driver admitted.

“In Canada we achieved our best collective result of the year, scoring a strong haul of points. Last week I spent time in the simulator and with the engineers in Enstone to continue working on many areas so I can feel more comfortable in the car. We didn’t count the hours of work to be ready for this double-header in Monaco and Barcelona, where our goal will be to continue our points-scoring streak,” he concluded.

Colapinto’s comments

“This week off has been particularly intense and positive as we continue building on our momentum. This street circuit is one of the most exciting for a driver, with the walls so close to the track. I can’t wait to experience the feeling it will deliver with this year’s lighter and more agile cars. I live in Monaco, so I’ve been able to follow the circuit setup from home, and now I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.

“Given how extremely difficult overtaking is here, this is probably the most important Saturday of the entire year. The weekend looks set to be intense, and our goal is to once again confirm our solid performance level by finishing inside the top ten,” he concluded.
